We offer these resources based on positive experiences with these organizations, but the resources listed on this page are not directly affiliated with MIRAC.

- The Accompanying Immigrants in Detention (AID) program enables ICOM volunteers to directly support immigrant detainees and their families who live in the Twin Cities area. They accompany individuals in immigration detention and their families, provide emotional and financial support and help make connections to resources.

- Black Immigrant Collective
- A Black-led immigrant organization working at the intersection of Blackness and immigration that works on legal clinics, policy, mutual aid, support for undocumented Black immigrants, story telling and resource sharing.
- Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota
- If you are detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or calling on behalf of someone in the custody of ICE, please call 651-641-1011 during their intake hours to receive assistance.
- Volunteer Lawyer Network (VLN)
- VLN is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to connecting Minnesotans experiencing poverty with some of the top private lawyers in the state at no cost. Connecting volunteer attorneys with clients in need. Call 612-752-6677.
Immigration Case Information
- USCIS Case Status
- If you have an Application Receipt Number from the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services), you can check the status of your case online. The 13-character Application Receipt Number is found on application notices from USCIS.
Anti-Deportation Preparation and Documents

- Every family should have a Family Preparedness Plan. While it is our hope that you never have to use your plan, it is a good practice to have one in place to help reduce the stress of the unexpected. This packet will help everyone create a Family Preparedness Plan, regardless of immigration status. However, because of the additional challenges immigrant and mixed status families face, we also have additional advice for immigrants.
